PCCI was invited to give two presentations at a workshop for Mine Escape Planning and Emergency Shelters, hosted by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) on April 18, 2006. The MSHA website link, http://www.msha.gov/REGS/FEDREG/NOTICES/2006misc/06-2905/WorkshopMaterials.asp, provides a record of proceedings from this workshop.
PCCI Vice President Alan Becker gave Presentation 17, which provides an overview of the Mine Fresh Air Base, an innovative unit used to sustain life in underground mining, tunneling, and excavating environments. PCCI Engineer Ryan Webb delivered Presentation 8, which concerns on-site emergency treatment of rescued miners with the Hyperlite, a portable hyperbaric stretcher and treatment system, as well as the uses of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) treatment.
PCCI is the sole U.S. Government distributor of the Hyperlite Emergency Evacuation Hyperbaric Stretcher (EEHS) system built to U.S. Navy specifications. In the past five years, PCCI has supplied Emergency Evacuation Hyperbaric Stretchers to NOAA, the U.S. Navy, and the U.S. Air Force.
